Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Unit Information

Unit Type: Step-down and Medical-Surgical
Number of Beds: 23 step-down, 16 med-surg
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 4 PCTs
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 4 PCTs
Patient Ratios:
- Step-down: 1:3-4
- Med-surg: 1:4-6
Equipment: Lifts, chest tubes, cardiac drips, stable vented patients, tracheostomies
EMR System: Cerner

Job Description

Provide care on step-down and med-surg units
Typical procedures include:
- Tracheostomy care
- Chest tube management
- Wound dressing changes
Flexibility and a high level of clinical competence are essential

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing
At least 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Demonstrated de-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience

Additional Information

Floating assignments may include other med-surg and progressive care units
Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
Weekend/on-call requirements: Approximately 6 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) in a 6-week period
