Travel RN Job Summary

Role

• Registered Nurse in a progressive care unit
• Travel assignment in Tennessee

Location

• Hermitage, Tennessee

Schedule

• 36 hours per week
• 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling
• 4-week schedules

Assignment Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• BLS
• ACLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• EKG rhythm interpretation
• Cardiac drip experience
• Insulin drip experience
• Heparin drip experience
• Peripheral IV skills

Preferred / Helpful Experience

• Critical thinking skills
• EKG rhythm interpretation
• Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips
• Experience with bipaps, high-flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
• Experience with stroke care and post-cardiac cath care
• Experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tubes
• Peripheral IV skills
• Peritoneal dialysis experience

Unit Details

• Progressive care unit with 34 beds in one section and 25 beds in another
• Typical patient ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on days, 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
• May float between progressive care units or to med-surg floors
• Uses Meditech for documentation

Common Responsibilities / Procedures

• Peritoneal dialysis
• Thoracentesis
• Paracentesis
• Chest tube insertions
• Dobhoff/NG tube insertions
• Central line dressing changes
• Wound vac troubleshooting

Work Environment

• Black scrubs required
• Hourly rounding on days and every 2 hours on nights
• AIDET and communication board use expected
• Tech support available on the unit

Additional Notes

• Wound care support is part of the unit workflow
• Travelers often extend after the first assignment
