Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Role: Circulating Registered Nurse in General Operating Room (OR)
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • On-call: Yes, 5-8 calls per month including weekends
  • Holiday call may be required
  • Must be able to circulate general OR cases; no scrub experience required
  • Preferred experience with circulating cases in Plastics, Colorectal, Urology, MIS, Pancreatic/Biliary, Surgical Oncology, and robotic-assisted surgeries (5 robots available)
  • First-time travelers accepted only if they have 5+ years of experience

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
  • At least 2 years of Operating Room (OR) circulating experience, with OR circulating experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Additional Requirements & Notes

  • Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Requests for time off must be submitted at time of application and are subject to department approval
  • Facility may cancel or reassign travelers who refuse to comply with fit testing or safety requirements (e.g., facial hair impacting mask fit)
  • Radiation badge processing may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start floor duties without badge
  • Travelers must upload COVID vaccination records or complete a vaccination declination form (COVID vaccines highly preferred but not required)
  • During hurricane season, travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams; consider this before accepting assignment
