Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Emergency Department with 101 beds
• Patient ratios typically 4:1 for medical patients, up to 7:1 for behavioral holds
• Tech support available for cardiac monitoring, triage, and unit clerks
• Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• Documentation system: Cerner
• Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling commitment; schedule meets department needs
• Floating: No floating outside the ED; must float within all ED sections
• Patient experience standards include AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and continuous patient updates

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current certifications required before start date:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Schedule & Hours

• The department is equipped with advanced technology and supports a high-volume emergency setting (>100,000 visits annually)
