Unit Information

Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Number of Beds: 44
Staffing (Day & Night Shift):
- 2 CNC/Charge Nurses
- 11 RNs
- 4 CNAs
- 1 HUC
Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1, stretched to 5:1
Equipment Used: IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pump, Chest tubes, Trachs, Patient lifts
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner

Required Certifications & Licenses

Registered Nurse (RN) License
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Certification

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN
Neuro and Trauma Care experience required

Typical Procedures Performed

Neuro and spinal checks
C-Collar placement, TLSO braces
Chest tube management
PCA pump operation
IV infusions
Lumbar drain care
Feeding tube placement
Blood transfusions

Work Environment & Culture

Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Floating Areas: Stepdown units, Med-surg units
Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
Personality Fit: Team player, patient-focused

Requirements / Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Neuro and Trauma Care experience
