Job Summary

• Provide services in Anatomic Pathology under the supervision of a qualified Pathologist.
• Assist in preparation and performance of human surgical specimen examinations, including gross description, dissection, and selection of tissue sections for microscopic examination.
• Perform accessioning and proper identification of specimens according to surgical pathology policies.
• Conduct autopsies including external examination, organ inspection, evisceration, dissection, tissue submission, and documentation.
• Responsible for tumor procurement for biorepository.
• Maintain quality assurance and quality control in specimen identification, frozen sections, and instrument maintenance.
• Manage inventory and supplies for frozen section room and surgical pathology lab.
• Assist in resident training and competency assessment.
• Perform gross photography of specimens as needed.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Contract Length

• 9 weeks

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Overtime is billable after 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Pathologists' Assistant with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologist's Assistant program or ASCP certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience with microscopic examination preparation
• Experience with gross photography of specimens
• Experience in tumor procurement for biorepository
• Knowledge and practice of quality assurance and quality control in pathology processes
