Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel/contract role in Kansas City, Kansas
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract
• 36 hours per week
• Average daily census: 60
• 8-bed emergency department

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Kansas
• ED - Emergency Department (3 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Weekend work required, with variation based on vacancy
• Floating required within scope to all community hospital ER units and may also occur between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirement
• No more than 7 days of requested time off

Clinical Focus

• Emergency care for a broad range of acute presentations, including:

  • ACS
  • CVA/TIA
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Sepsis
  • Diabetes-related emergencies
  • Trauma and injuries
  • Abdominal pain
  • Behavioral health emergencies
  • Neurological complaints
  • Common medical complaints such as hypertension, dehydration, UTI, flu, COVID, and other acute illness

Skills

• 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
• Starting and maintaining IVs
• Emergency medication administration
