Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Position
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Summary
This role focuses on delivering clinical education to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members in an acute care setting, particularly within Progressive Care Units (PCU). The position requires strong communication and teaching skills, with responsibilities including unit-based rounding, competency validation, and supporting staff education across various shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver assigned clinical education content to nursing and interdisciplinary staff.
- Support education for core staff, travelers, contract labor, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Conduct unit-based rounding, reinforcement, and just-in-time coaching.
- Validate understanding and competency as required.
- Accurately and timely document education completion.
- Identify barriers to education completion and escalate concerns to Clinical Education leadership.
- Support education efforts during night shifts, weekends, and for hard-to-reach colleagues.
- Assist with focused re-education based on audit findings or practice observations.
- Collaborate with educators and leadership to enhance clinical education initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum of 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Critical care experience
- Competency validation experience
- Preceptor development experience
- Skills validation experience
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Acute care, critical care, or procedural nursing experience.
- Familiarity with high-risk education, regulatory readiness, quality/safety initiatives, or survey response work (training provided).
- Comfort using education tracking tools, LMS platforms, or competency checklists (training provided).
- Strong communication, coaching, and teaching skills.
- Ability to work independently while following established education plans and content.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, nights, and weekends.
Work Hours
- Approximately 36 hours per week.
This position does not require prior travel experience.
