Registered Nurse – Stepdown Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Float pool position primarily on Stepdown unit with potential to float to other stepdown and emergency units caring for similar patient populations.
• Rotating shifts with 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (day shift: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm; night shift: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am). Shift rotation may be required to meet operational needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.

Orientation and Competency Requirements

• Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation during orientation with minimum passing scores (medication: 90%, ECG: 80%).
• SafeMedicate exam prep materials provided before orientation.
• Candidates with less than 6 months gap since last assignment at this or related facility may be exempt from some orientation testing.

Additional Notes

• Government-issued photo ID required on assignment.
• Candidates must complete all required health documents, immunizations, and certifications prior to start.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending but must complete fingerprinting before starting.
• Modules and onboarding process typically take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start.
• Candidates with name changes must have legal name updated in system prior to start.
• Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures.

Work Hours

• 36 hours per week, scheduled as 3 shifts of 12 hours each.
• Shifts rotate between days and nights as needed.
