NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shifts, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Monday through Friday
- Required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years total NICU III/IV experience
- At least 1 full year must be in a Level IV NICU
- Experience with post-op patients, G-tubes, trach/vent management, and various invasive/noninvasive ventilation modes
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin RN license or compact license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA
- ACLS and PALS may be required depending on unit specifics (verify prior to start)
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID Form (state-mandated)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire and monthly thereafter
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
- Physical exam (Aya standard)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tdap vaccination (proof of one adult dose required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers, with medical/religious exemptions accepted
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)
Testing & Competency Requirements
- Pediatric Telemetry Pass/Fail Test (WorkRamp LMS) required for all inpatient pediatric units including NICU
- Must pass with 80% overall and 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory
- Up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation after 2nd failure
- Adult Telemetry Test required if applicable
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams required
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Signed acknowledgments for safety manual and pass/fail testing as applicable
- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP certification
- Experience with G-tube care
- Experience with trach/vent management
- Experience with various modes of invasive ventilation
- Experience with various modes of noninvasive ventilation
Summary
This is a night-shift NICU RN travel contract requiring strong Level III/IV NICU experience, Wisconsin RN licensure, and specific neonatal certifications. The role involves working 4 twelve-hour shifts per week with some weekend coverage. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and facility-specific testing is mandatory.
