Registered Nurse – CVPICU (Pediatric ICU / Cardiovascular)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a high-acuity Pediatric ICU with cardiovascular focus.
- Strong Pediatric ICU experience required.
- At least 1 year of cardiovascular (CV) experience required.
- EPIC electronic health record experience required.
- Telemetry test must be passed prior to start.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Certifications & Testing
- BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications must be current and issued by the American Heart Association.
- Facility requires completion of a Pediatric Telemetry Test through their LMS platform prior to start.
- Candidates allowed up to 3 attempts on Telemetry test with remediation required after 2nd failure.
- Telemetry test includes strict passing criteria: 80% overall and 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory.
- Additional rhythm interpretation remediation course required if second attempt fails.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Wisconsin BID Form and Caregiver Screening required within 90 days prior to start.
- Comprehensive background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- Background review required for any pending or convicted criminal charges (excluding traffic violations).
- Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems after hire.
- Employment application and 2 clinical references within the last 3 years required.
- Annual skills checklist required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of Tdap vaccination (one dose from adulthood) required.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
- MMR: 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
- Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series and/or declination form required for direct patient care providers.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season.
- Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols.
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, solid background, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
- Completion of communicable disease form within 90 days of start.
- Medical or religious exemption forms for flu, MMR, and Varicella vaccines must be submitted and approved as applicable.
- Physical exam recommended to meet agency standards (not required by facility).
- Fit mask completed onsite (results maintained by facility).
Notes
- Candidates with strong Level II experience may be considered.
- Every other weekend and some holiday shifts are required.
- Orientation includes passing Telemetry testing and acknowledgment of safety manuals.
- Facility-specific study guides and remediation courses are provided for Telemetry exam preparation.
