Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Med Surg (1 year of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Role Responsibilities

• Performs unit-specific nursing responsibilities and duties
• Completes patient assessments, develops and updates plans of care, and documents nursing care
• Implements nursing interventions, patient care procedures, and physician orders
• Provides and assists with therapies and procedures including IV access, IM injections, SQ injections, chest tube insertion and management, sequential compression device use, blood glucose monitoring, PCA machine use, thorocentesis, paracentesis, TPN, thrombolytic therapy, kangaroo pump use, and central line insertion
• Responds to emergency situations and works as an effective team member
• Delegates patient care tasks and validates completion
• Administers medications using the 5 Rights
• Maintains patient safety measures including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety
• Communicates with the healthcare team to support interdisciplinary collaboration, care coordination, and patient safety
