Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry)

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Job Description

Provide nursing care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit.
Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement.
Patient ratios:
- Day/Evening: 5:1 (stretch 6-7)
- Night: 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living.
Floating within scope to similar units may be required.
Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (EOW).
Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed.
No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius.
No pending licenses accepted.
Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: Maximum 1 week allowed during contract.

Osteoarthritis of any joints
Fractures of any bones

Special Skills / Requirements

Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
IV insulin protocols
Feeding tube care and management
Blood product administration
Peripheral line care/management
Heparin protocols
Management (no titration) of cardiac drips
Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA)
Ortho trauma and total joint replacements
Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
External CPAP/BIPAP
High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
Tracheostomy management
Wound care and wound vac management

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in New York
Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Competency in phlebotomy

Onboarding / Compliance Notes

Health-related requirements and lab work must be completed within 5 days of contract signing.
Education verification required from primary source; hard copies of degrees/transcripts not accepted.
References required for agency direct hires (2 references within 3 years).

Fingerprinting and additional background checks may be required for certain units (e.g., Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Home Health Aide, Long Term Care).
