Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - BMT Unit

Location

Shift Details

  • Rotating shifts: Night (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) and Day (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • Total hours per week: 36
  • Weekend shifts required as per unit needs

Unit Description

  • 36 staffed beds (51 bed unit total)
  • Patient population: Blood cancers receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, cellular therapies including stem cell transplants and CAR-T
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: Typically 3-4:1, may flex based on staffing and unit needs
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrub color: Navy
  • Floating: Required to float between BMT/Oncology and CTU units, and possibly to sister facilities within the metro region

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Colorado
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology experience, including hematology and bone marrow transplant
  • Oncology experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC)

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (updated annually)
  • Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) updated annually
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (updated annually)
  • OSHA mandatory training (updated annually)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M masks specified)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination within 1 year
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • COVID vaccine documentation or signed declination accepted
  • Color blindness testing: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)

Background & Verification

  • 7-year background check within 60 days of start including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification (accredited nursing school)
  • Employment verification for last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Two professional references from last 2 years, including one from the last year (Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor)
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • State-specific CAPS check within 60 days of start

Additional Information

  • No on-call requirement
  • Compliance with facility-specific onboarding and training modules within first two weeks
  • Candidates must be comfortable with floating and flexible staffing ratios
  • Must complete required facility documentation promptly (e.g., employee data sheet within 24 hours of signing)
