RN Medicine Specialty
Overview
- Registered nurse role providing hospital-based care to patients with a range of health problems.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
- Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC).
- 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
- Med Surg experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- ACLS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from a Board Approved Program.
- Willingness to help precept new nurses.
Role Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, including changes in physician orders.
- Assists physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtains and monitors patient physiological data and intervenes when necessary.
- Administers medication as prescribed and manages intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Provides patient care and communicates care plans and discharge information to patients and families.
- Informs patients and families of hospital procedures.
- Makes referrals for patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegates tasks to support staff.
