Associate Director of Nursing
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Clinical - Nursing - IPC
Shift: Days
Hours: 7 hours/day, 37.5 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Under the Director of Nursing, the Associate Director of Nursing is responsible for the daily operation of the Nursing Department and implementation of standards to ensure quality care delivery. Acts on behalf of the Director in their absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for resident care.
- Interpret departmental and institutional policies to staff, residents, families, and the community.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to assess staffing needs and create staff schedules.
- Collect, analyze, and present statistical data as required.
- Assist in budget planning and monitor supply costs and staff utilization.
- Coordinate resident care services between nursing and other disciplines.
- Investigate suspected resident abuse, misconduct, neglect, and care problems; report findings to the Director of Nursing.
- Lead the facility’s Performance Improvement program.
- Review 24-hour nursing reports to evaluate nursing interventions and identify care issues.
- Conduct regular rounds to ensure policy compliance and assess resident care quality.
- Participate in rounds with Director of Nursing or administrative staff to evaluate department function.
- Work with Staff Education Department to assess and plan staff learning programs.
- Serve as a clinical resource in interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Evaluate Nurse Managers and Administrative Nursing Care Coordinators annually and as needed.
- Assist in recruitment and retention of nursing staff.
- Meet weekly with Nurse Managers and Nursing Care Coordinators to address resident care, staffing, and labor management issues.
- Assist Director of Nursing in preparation for state health department surveys.
- Perform other duties as assigned and respond to emergencies to ensure resident welfare and facility operation.
- Attend conferences and meetings to stay current on long-term care issues.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Assistant Director of Nursing, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in In Patient Care Hospice (IPC)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing or related healthcare field preferred.
- Experience with EPIC charting system.
- Availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with on-call duties every other weekend.
- No overtime required.
