Description
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location
- Sacramento, California
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend
- Holidays rotate with staff
- Call response time: 30 minutes
Required Qualifications
- Active California RN license
- 2 years of experience
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- AWHONN Advanced
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and OB triage
- Circulate cesarean sections
- Float to mother-baby
- Titrate drips
- Read and interpret EKG strips for moms in PACU
Unit Details
- High-risk unit with couplet care
- 10 labor and delivery beds
- 2 OR suites for C-sections
- 3 OB-ED triage beds and 3 antepartum testing beds used for overflow
- 12 postpartum beds
- Approximately 140–165 births per month
- Common patient types include preterm labor, bleeding, inductions, cesarean sections, and hypertension
Additional Information
- STABLE is preferred
- Scrubs are provided
- Charge nurse generally does not take patients but does break relief
- OB hospitalist is in house 24/7
- Neonatology is on call 24/7 and rounds daily
- Anesthesia is in house 24/7
