Position: Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Location: Dallas, TX

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical Telemetry team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in nursing with a special focus on telemetry and cardiac monitoring. This position offers a daytime schedule with 12-hour shifts, providing the opportunity to work closely with a diverse patient population.

Shift Details

• Shift: Day 4x12-Hour (07:00 AM - 07:00 PM)
• Weekend Coverage: Every Other Weekend

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
• Travel experience is mandatory
• Community hospital experience is preferred

Certifications

• Required: BLS, ACLS

Skills and Expertise

The following skills are essential for success in this role:

• Clinical expertise in Medical/Surgical Telemetry
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Rapid Response and Code teams
• Telemetry monitoring and IV therapy
• Phlebotomy and administration of blood products
• Central and peripheral line management
• PICC line management and maintenance
• Proficient in respiratory care including BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Isolation precautions and PPE usage
• Wound care, including wound vacs
• Management of patients with neurological and psychiatric conditions, including CVA, seizures, and substance withdrawal

Patient Care Details

• Patient Ratios: Days 1:6; Nights 1:7; Weekends 1:8
• Patient Age Groups: Adults and Geriatrics
• Daily Patient Census: Approximately 20

Collaborative Support

This position involves working with a multidisciplinary team, including:

• Physical Therapy
• Respiratory Services
• Interpretation Services
• Phlebotomy
• Radiology
• Pharmacy
• Unit Secretary

Additional Information

The unit accepts first-time travelers, and applicants must reside more than 50 miles away to be eligible. Orientation will consist of 12 hours of training to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
