Very disorganized hospital, a lot of outdated equipment. A lot of providers would prefer you message them via their personal cell phones rather than using hospital paging system. Some providers will write notes about seeing their patients and never show up. Also rely on you to review results with patients.

ICU - Intensive Care Unit

It was great working here, the staff was amazing and there was amazing team work, I worked mainly on the step-down floors with a ratio of 6pts on the PM shift most if the time, sometime on a good day 5 pts. The only problem I had working there was the management would send pt one after the other with a 30 min spread time and they liked to send pt up from the ED at shift change and sometimes with out even calling report and they would fax the report from downstairs

The teamwork and team members were great, horrible ratios

Only 1 nurse on a unit with 15 patients. And only 2 nurses on the higher acuity/heavier units. I’ve never felt so understaffed in all of my nursing career.

Behavioral Health

The only saving grace is that most nurses are travelers so there is mostly good teamwork and there is phlebotomy even on nights. There are no protocols. Doctors don’t clean up their orders. There is no autonomy. Most of the doctors are rude, don’t respect nurses, and honestly make really dumb decisions. There is not enough equipment - one ultrasound machine, one glidescope, one bladder scanner for the entire hospital. The management in almost every unit is terrible. The pay is not enough for how much garbage you have to deal with and how unsafe it is at times.

Avoid it!

Charge nurse would often make patient to nurse ratios uneven for travelers compared to staffers. Staff would sit at the desk talking with less patients than travel nurses while travel nurses were drowning. Providers were condescending and not very professional and kind. Nurse manager Michelle was however very pleasant and worked with you for your schedule, she was a positive for Frye.
