Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level II trauma center hospital in Asheville, NC, requiring 2+ years of experience and strong telemetry rhythm interpretation skills on a night shift schedule.

Details

• Work on a 34-bed Adult Med/Surg Telemetry unit (A4W) on the 4th floor
• Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Patient ratios are 1:4–6 on day shift and 1:5–7 on night shift
• Night shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN, 5–7 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1 HUC
• Patient population is adult med/surg level requiring telemetry monitoring
• Common procedures include IV fluids, IV antibiotics, tube feeds, and PEG feedings
• EMR: Cerner
• Floating may be required to other med/surg units or occasionally to the ED holding pod
• Every other weekend required (6 weekend shifts per pay period)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC); ACLS preferred; NIH Stroke Scale certification required for Tele RNs
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry or med/surg RN experience required
• Strong telemetry rhythm interpretation skills required
• Proficient critical thinking, time management, and patient assessment skills required
• Ability to recognize and escalate changes in patient acuity to Charge RN, Rapid Response, or provider
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Assess med/surg telemetry patients and manage IV therapies, tube feedings, and antibiotic administration
• Attend shift huddles at 6:50 AM (day) or 6:50 PM (night) as required
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must follow all HCA facility policies
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Team-oriented candidates who are willing to collaborate with CNAs and fellow nurses are the best fit for this unit
• The facility is a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
