Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (NICU/Peds) with at least 2 years of pediatric-only experience for a night shift position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU teaching hospital.
Details
- Children's hospital serving a neonatal through pediatric patient population across multiple units including ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, and general med floors
- Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU at a 247-licensed-bed teaching hospital
- RTs in this department will not be floated to another facility due to the specialty nature of the unit
- IPPV and NIPPV ventilator use required
- EMR: Epic (testing out of Epic is encouraged for faster onboarding)
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700 (alternate shift times: 1845–0715 or 0645–1915)
- 36 hours per week, on a 6-week schedule cycle
- Every other weekend rotation
- No call or on-call requirements
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
Requirements
- Current RRT or CRT credential required
- Active NC state licensure required (license required if applicable)
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience, specifically in pediatric-only assignments (not mixed-age populations), within the past 5 years
- Experience must span relevant pediatric settings such as ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, or general pediatric med floors
- IPPV/NIPPV ventilator experience required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care services to neonatal and pediatric patients throughout the facility
- Supported by respiratory therapy leadership within the department
- Orientation consists of 3 days total for ED and general floor experience, plus 1 day per ICU unit for candidates with multiple ICU backgrounds; includes 2 days of computer training, equipment orientation, and facility walkthrough
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved (excluding holidays); any contracted hours not met must be made up by extending the contract
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Free parking available on-site
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- A clinical interview with the manager is required as part of the hiring process
