Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Telemetry/Med-Surg unit in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of Tele/MS experience and a TX or compact RN license for night shift coverage.
Details
- Position is located on a 34-bed Telemetry/Ortho-Trauma unit (7 South)
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Patient ratio is 1:6, with some 1:5 assignments possible
- No on-call requirements
- Every other weekend required
- Day shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 3 PCTs, and 1 Unit Clerk; night shift includes 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, and 2 PCTs
- Equipment used includes Welch Allyn Vital Signs monitors and GE Telemetry Monitoring
- EMR is MediTech
- Common procedures include Wound VAC, CPM machines, external fixation, and bracing
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment)
- Current NIHSS certification required for Tele RNs
- ACLS preferred; TNCC preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent Telemetry and/or Med-Surg RN experience required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Navy scrubs required
- Outgoing, team-oriented nurses are said to be the best fit for this unit
- The unit has recognized staff members with ICARE and Daisy Awards
