Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-volume Level III trauma center in Yakima, WA, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ED experience and a comprehensive certification package including TNCC.

Details

• Work in a 34-bed Emergency Department at a 226-bed Level III non-profit community hospital seeing 200–250 patients per day — the busiest ED in the state
• ED is organized into zones, including a 13-bed fast track 'green zone'
• Patient population spans neonate to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma cases, stroke (TNK administration), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, and substance use disorder
• High-acuity cases include multi-system trauma, neurosurgery transfers, and critical pediatric patients requiring stabilization and transfer
• Patient ratios of 1:3–5 depending on acuity
• EMR: Epic (required)
• 12-hour day shifts with variable start times including days (7a–7p, 9a–9p), mids (10a–12a range), evenings (3p–3a), and nights (7p–7a)
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required; back-to-back weekends possible on rare occasions — flexibility preferred
• No floating required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active WA state RN license or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, and blood product administration
• Triage experience required; must pass the hospital's Triage Test prior to triaging patients
• Experience with chest tube setup, arterial lines, trauma and code cases, splinting, and BiPAP/ventilator management
• Strong understanding of Emergency Severity Index (ESI)
• At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference required prior to start

Additional Information

• Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred
• Experience with Point of Care Labs is a plus
• Scrub color: any color accepted; no logos permitted
