Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pre/Post-Op Day Surgery position in Chattanooga, TN, requiring at least 2 years of experience and proficiency in IV starts, moderate sedation, and surgical prep/recovery.

- Located in the Day Surgery / Pre-Op Holding unit of a 472-bed hospital in Chattanooga, TN
- Patient population includes surgical patients requiring pre-operative preparation and Phase 2 post-operative recovery
- Unit is equipped with cardiac monitors, ultrasound, and EKG machines
- EMR system: Meditech
- Unit secretaries and surgical technicians are available on staff
- Procedures performed on the unit include nerve blocks, arterial lines, central lines, and Swan catheter management
- Schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week; four 10-hour shifts may also be considered
- Shift start times vary (5:00 AM, 5:30 AM, 6:00 AM, 6:30 AM, or 7:00 AM) based on the surgery schedule
- One closing shift per week is required, running from 7:00 AM until the last patient is discharged
- Floating is limited to Day Surgery and Pre-Op Holding only
- No weekend or holiday shifts required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — TN state license or a Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in Pre/Post-Op or Day Surgery
- Proficiency in IV starts and moderate sedation required
- Experience preparing surgical patients pre-operatively and providing Phase 2 recovery required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include pre-operative patient preparation, moderate sedation monitoring, and Phase 2 post-operative recovery care
- Advanced skills in nerve blocks, arterial lines, central lines, and Swan catheter management are utilized on this unit
- Blue scrubs are required
- The unit is known for excellent teamwork among staff
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
