Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical/Surgical position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active SC or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 21-bed Medical/Surgical Digestive Disease Inpatient Unit at a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
  • Patient population includes adults (17+) with complex GI diagnoses, including patients in the Bariatric Surgery and Autologous Islet Cell Transplant Programs
  • Primary medical services include Luminal/General Medical Hospitalist, Hepatology, and GI Surgery (Pancreobiliary, Bariatric, and Surgical Oncology)
  • Patient ratio is 1:6
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Requires 4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Floating within scope to like units required based on facility needs
  • Charting performed in Epic

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must be fully licensed before starting
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA-issued only)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Delivers complex nursing care using a modified modular nursing model that emphasizes teamwork
  • Orientation modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) may be considered on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate
  • RTO requests exceeding 7 days or including holidays require facility approval and may delay the process
  • Block scheduling may be requested but is subject to manager and unit approval and is not guaranteed
  • All employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties during hurricane season (June–November), with peak activity in August and September
  • Scrub color requirement: solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms
  • Parking is available via a hang tag permit for a one-time $20 registration fee, valid for the designated parking garage only
