Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) travel assignment in Thornton, CO, requiring at least 1 year of acute care PCU experience and active CO or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Located on the 2 North floor of a hospital's Progressive Care Unit (MCA)
- 24-bed unit with a 5:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Day shift staffing includes a charge nurse, 4–5 RNs, and 2–3 PCTs; night shift includes a charge nurse, 4–5 RNs, and 2 PCTs
- Diverse patient population including post-op orthopedic (spine, joint), GYN surgery, elective cath lab procedures (post-PCI, post-pacemaker, ablation, cardioversion, re-vascularization), stroke, CIWA, chest pain, renal failure, and respiratory failure patients
- Telemetry and post-op monitoring equipment used on unit; cardiac drips at set rates (non-titrating, except heparin)
- EMR: Meditech/CPN (prior experience preferred)
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital PCU experience required
- At least 2 years of total clinical experience required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Cardiac experience is preferred
- Prior Meditech EMR experience is preferred
- Typical procedures include post-op recovery of surgical and cath lab patients, and post-op care for orthopedic (spine and joint) patients
- Brand-new, state-of-the-art unit with ADA/bariatric rooms equipped with in-room Hoyer lifts
- Collaborative unit culture with staff of varied nursing experience levels
- Modified self-scheduling process with schedules posted 3 weeks in advance
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted, no exceptions
