Description

American Traveler is hiring a Charge RN for Labor & Delivery requiring charge experience and fetal monitoring certification in a Level II NICU and Level II Trauma facility.

Details

• Work in the Women's Services unit including LDRP (9 beds), OB-ED (1 bed), NICU (4 beds), and 1 OR suite
• Patient ratios include 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections, 1:3 for couplet care, 1:1 for newborns until stable, and 1:3 for NICU intermediate care with 2 NICU nurses required in the unit at all times
• Unit does not have dedicated techs or unit secretaries
• Uses CPN central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist consults, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps
• Charts in Meditech and CPN documentation systems
• Full-time schedule of 3 shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays
• Floating required to other areas of the facility when not needed on the unit, with some staff cross-trained to float between LDRP and NICU
• Performs daily rounding on all patients including safety rounding

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact)
• Current BLS and NRP (Advanced 9th Edition) certifications required
• Fetal monitoring certification required (AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced, or NCCEFM)
• Prior charge experience required
• Labor and delivery experience including laboring and recovering mothers and receiving/transitioning newborns including assessment
• Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other OB emergencies preferred
• Experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil) and fetal monitoring required
• Experience with C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, and vacuum or forceps assisted deliveries
• 1 year of recent experience in labor and delivery required
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Facility holds Joint Commission accreditation and is certified as a Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center, and Level II NICU
• Pink and/or brown scrubs required per the unit's infant security policy
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
• First-time travelers may be considered
