Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele (Oncology) night shift position at an acute care hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and a MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology unit at a 233-bed acute care hospital
- Patient population includes medical/surgical and oncology patients
- Patient ratio of 1:5–6
- Epic EMR is used and experience is required for this unit
- Required to work 2 shifts every other weekend; for night shift, weekend coverage may fall on Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on existing rotation
- Floating within service line required to meet facility needs
- No on-call responsibilities
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking available
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license with permanent residence matching the compact state required
- Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency with IV therapy, phlebotomy, accessing/managing ports, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Provide nursing care to medical/surgical oncology patients in a telemetry setting
- Pre-start online modules are required and must be completed two Fridays prior to the start date
- Fit testing is required; facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit or candidates will be expected to shave — no exceptions
- RTO is limited to 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Travelers may work at this health system for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
- Current or former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before being considered as a traveler at any BJC facility
- Travelers who cancel a BJC contract must complete an assignment elsewhere before being considered for a new BJC opportunity
- Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are not accepted
