Description

American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist with 2+ years of IR experience, Epic proficiency, and a broad procedural skillset spanning vascular, oncologic, cardiac, and pediatric cases at a quaternary care teaching hospital in Newark, NJ.

Details

  • Work in an Interventional Radiology unit at a 665-bed quaternary care teaching hospital affiliated with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, part of the RWJBarnabas Health system
  • High-acuity patient population spanning infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, including cardiac and transplant cases
  • Procedures include visceral and vascular angiography (adrenal, mesenteric, pelvic, renal, pulmonary, aortography, IVC cavagram, percutaneous hepatic); angioplasty; stent and endograft placement; embolization (including radioembolization and chemoembolization); thrombolysis/thrombectomy; IVC filter placement and removal; venous and central access (ports, PICC, line care)
  • IR procedures include RFA of the liver, liver biopsy, paracentesis, thoracentesis, chest tube and gastrostomy tube placement, esophageal stent placement, ERCP, cholecystostomy, catheter/drain exchange, and cystoscopy
  • Cardiac procedures include diagnostic catheterizations (adult, pediatric, and neonatal), hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac stent placement, Impella insertion, and scrub procedures
  • Settings include Interventional Radiology, Pediatric IR, Hybrid OR, and Special Procedures
  • Epic EMR required
  • 5x7.5-hour day shifts, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, 37.5 hours per week
  • On-call required every 3rd weekend
  • Must be available to work 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
  • Floating within clinical skillset is required without exception

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience
  • Active NJ Radiologic Technologist License or Compact License required — license required if applicable
  • BLS and ARRT(R) certifications required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency with fluoroscopy, 3D imaging, PACS, and sterile scrub technique
  • Experience with vascular, oncologic, cardiac, and pediatric IR procedures required
  • Experience working in a teaching hospital setting preferred
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Additional Information

  • Hospital is nationally recognized for its cardiac and transplant programs, including one of the nation's largest heart transplant centers and New Jersey's only Advanced Lung Disease and Transplant Program
  • Responsibilities include equipment setup, prepping access sites, scrubbing and maintaining sterile field, PACS operation, equipment and inventory maintenance, supply stocking, and use of isolation precautions/PPE and Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Hospital-provided scrubs (green/teal)
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same bill rate
  • Former RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the RWJBH health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • RTO and schedule requests must be confirmed prior to offer; no changes will be accommodated after an offer is made — requests with fewer than 7 days of RTO and no holiday time off will be prioritized
  • Allied travelers should expect approximately 1 hour of non-billable orientation modules to be completed pre-start
  • Failing competency exams requires a 6-month waiting period before re-application
