Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 1+ years of L&D experience, AWHONN Intermediate certification, and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Women's and Infants Labor and Delivery Unit, a 19-room unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Rotating day and night shifts (4x12 hours), including 7:00-19:30 and 19:00-7:30
  • Various days of the week with weekend requirements per unit needs
  • On-call requirements per unit needs
  • Float required within the Women and Infant Unit and potentially within the metro region per facility needs
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Navy scrub color required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (CO or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Beginner certifications preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in labor and delivery management including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, and sterile vaginal exams
  • Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, and antihypertensives
  • Experience with postpartum care including couplet care and hemorrhage management

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum units
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries as part of a collaborative care team
  • Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, cord care, and infant identification
  • Provide patient education including breastfeeding support and discharge teaching
  • Perform fetal heart rate monitoring and recognize abnormal patterns
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Candidates previously employed by the health system or its affiliates may face eligibility restrictions
  • Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking
  • Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks in September, October, November, and December 2026
  • Blocked scheduling requests are not permitted
  • Completion of facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
  • Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are eligible for the local bill rate
