Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) stepdown unit requiring an active NC or compact license, stepdown and telemetry experience, and at least 2 years of RN experience.
Details
- 40-bed cardiovascular surgery stepdown unit within an E Heart Tower hospital setting
- Cares for CV and vascular surgery patients including CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic/lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
- Also receives overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
- RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and PCT ratio of 1:13
- Uses Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
- Cerner EMR system
- Day shift schedule from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM over a 13-week assignment
- Floating required to stepdown (1:5), med-surg (1:6-7), or ER inpatient holding (1:6) units
- No on-call requirement
- Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) per 6-week schedule period
- Flexibility to work holidays required
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or compact) required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Certification required for PCU/Tele placement
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
- Stepdown and telemetry experience required for consideration
- Prior CV or vascular surgery experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year preferred
- CVICU experience preferred
- Experience with epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV gluccomander, and cardiac drip titration (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Unit staffed with 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, and partial HUC support per shift, totaling approximately 100 staff members
- Best suited for team players who thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate flexibility
- Scrub attire must be all navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
- Responsibilities include managing complex post-surgical cardiac and vascular patients, monitoring epidural and chest tube systems, administering tube feedings, and titrating multiple cardiac drips
