Description

American Traveler is hiring a High Risk Labor and Delivery RN with 1 year of specialty experience, requiring BLS and NRP certifications for an 18-week assignment.

Details

• Acute care teaching hospital with Level 3 trauma designation and 317 staffed beds
• High Risk Labor and Delivery unit handling 200-300 facility births per month
• 1:1 patient ratios
• Day shift (4x12, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (4x12, 19:00-7:30) available
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Float to postpartum unit within scope as needed
• Epic (Excellian) EMR experience required
• Handles high-acuity cases including C-sections, PPTL, D&C, cerclage placement/removal, and waterbirth

Requirements

• Active or pending MN RN license accepted
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Advanced NRP required
• AWHONN Intermediate and FHM certifications preferred
• Epic/Excellian charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood/blood products
• Experience with labor and delivery management, high-risk delivery assistance, and vaginal delivery assistance
• Experience circulating for C-sections preferred
• Experience with forceps/vacuum extraction and hemorrhage/shock management
• 1 supervisor reference required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum settings
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, and surgical procedures including D&C, cervical cerclage, and tubal ligation
• Administer medications including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and prostaglandins
• Provide neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and neonatal resuscitation
• Manage fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Care for patients with high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, preterm labor, and gestational diabetes
• Provide postpartum care including lactation support, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment
• Candidates must reside 100+ miles from the facility to be considered for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Pending MN license accepted at time of offer
• Returning staff must have been separated from perm employment (staff or per diem) for at least 3 months
• RTO requests ideally limited to no more than 5 days
• Scrubs provided by the unit
• Candidates may float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
