Description

American Traveler is hiring a High Risk Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring 1 year of specialty experience and Epic charting experience.

Details

  • Acute care teaching hospital, Level 3 trauma center
  • High risk Labor and Delivery unit
  • 1:1 patient ratios
  • Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float to postpartum unit as needed within scope
  • No on-call requirements
  • Handles high risk deliveries including C-sections, PPTL, D&C, cerclage placement/removal, and waterbirth
  • Facility performs 200-300 births per month
  • Uses Epic (Excellian) charting system
  • Scrubs provided by the unit

Requirements

  • Active MN RN license (license in hand preferred; pending license accepted)
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP
  • Preferred certifications: Advanced NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery specialty experience required
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and venous blood draws
  • Experience with amnioinfusion and assisting high risk and vaginal deliveries
  • Experience circulating for C-sections and forceps/vacuum extraction preferred
  • Experience managing obstetric hemorrhage/shock
  • Skilled in fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
  • Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care
  • Knowledge of medication administration including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, and Pitocin
  • Experience caring for patients with pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, preterm labor, and other high risk conditions
  • One supervisor reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Assist with high risk deliveries, surgical procedures, and neonatal care in the delivery room
  • Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal resuscitation
  • Provide postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum assessment and breastfeeding support
  • Manage pain relief methods including epidural anesthesia and PCA pumps
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility for consideration
  • Previous perm staff or per diem employees must have a 3-month gap since their last shift before returning
  • RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days during the assignment
  • May float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
