Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a High Risk Labor and Delivery position requiring 1 year of specialty experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of an acute care teaching hospital with Level 3 trauma designation
• High risk Labor and Delivery patient population
• 1:1 patient ratios
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Float to postpartum unit as needed within scope
• No on-call requirements
• Specialized procedures include C-sections, PPTL, D&C, cerclage placement/removal, and waterbirth
• Epic (Excellian) EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Active MN RN license (pending license accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS and NRP required; Advanced NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery specialty experience required
• Epic/Excellian charting experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
• Experience assisting with high risk and vaginal deliveries
• Experience circulating for C-sections and recovering C-section patients preferred
• Proficiency in forceps/vacuum extraction and hemorrhage/shock management
• At least 1 supervisor reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum units
• Manage high-risk conditions including preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
• Support fetal monitoring including internal and external EFM, IUPC placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Provide postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care and breastfeeding support
• Administer medications including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Scrubs provided by the unit
• Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility for consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days during the assignment
• Previous employees must have been separated from perm staff or per diem roles for at least 3 months to be eligible
• May float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
