Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of Neuro MS/Tele experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a teaching hospital environment
- Neuro/telemetry patient population including CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgery cases
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 1900-0730, Monday through Friday
- Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed
- Floating required as needed
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Neuro MS/Tele within the last 3 years
- Epic EMR experience required, within the past 12 months preferred
- Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification and an 80% or higher overall score
- Skills required include IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Respiratory care skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management skills required
- Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, and IV insulin protocols required
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to neurological and telemetry patients including CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, and substance withdrawal cases
- Assist with rapid response/code team activations as needed
- Work within a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital setting
- First-time travelers will be considered if they have 2 years of Level I or similar-sized hospital inpatient neuro experience within the last two years
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be accepted
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
