Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager for an acute care hospital setting, requiring a minimum of 5 years recent Case Management experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- 5x8 Day shift schedule, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Weekday schedule with some weekend requirements
- Holiday coverage required, must work two of three winter holidays
- Overtime requires supervisor approval
- Patient census of approximately 15-25 patients
- Patient ratio of 1:22
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Acute hospital setting, Level I, II, or III trauma center
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required at time of submission
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
- CCM (Certified Case Manager) and ACM (Accredited Case Manager) certifications preferred
- Minimum 5 years of recent acute care Case Management experience in a hospital setting required
- Less than a 6-month gap since last acute care Case Management role
- Recent experience in adult acute care hospital setting with discharge planning required
- Utilization Review (UR) experience required
- Epic proficiency required
- Rated 4/5 or 5/5 across all Case Management functions, including knowledge of CMS regulations
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced patient population
- Travel experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers considered only with extensive acute care Case Management experience
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include discharge planning, utilization review, concurrent review, continued stay reviews, care coordination, and needs assessment/DME ordering
- Skills include admission criteria review, appeals and denials, audits, benefits eligibility, determining medical necessity per evidence-based guidelines, and plan of care development
- Knowledge of CMS, DRG, HIPAA, OSHA, and Joint Commission/Core Measure/National Safety Goals regulations required
- Familiarity with Milliman guidelines preferred
- Experience in Behavioral Health and Emergency Department specialties preferred
- Must reside 50 or more miles from the facility to be considered for this position
- Candidates with any prior license or background hits will not be considered
- PAPR fit testing cannot be accommodated; any history of fit test issues will eliminate candidates from consideration
- Longer assignments through January 9, 2027 may be available but are not required
