Description
American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for a Cardiac Step-Down/PCU position requiring telemetry and titratable cardiac IV medication experience on a night shift schedule.
Details
- Cardiac Step-Down unit located on the 5th floor of the Heart Tower
- 40-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:4, stretching to 1:5 as needed
- Care for patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post cardiac cath/stent or pacer/ICD/ablation procedures
- Performs bedside cardioversion
- Uses Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners
- Charts in Cerner EMR
- Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to MedSurg, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- Stepdown or progressive care experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- Experience with titratable cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerine, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutrex, insulin drip, heparin, and bumex/Lasix required
- Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) preferred
- Relief charge nurse experience preferred
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide bedside nursing care to a high-acuity cardiac step-down patient population
- Work alongside a care team including a charge nurse, bedside nurses, PCTs, and a unit secretary
- Scrub attire must be all white, all navy blue, or a white top with navy blue pants
- No gaps in work history totaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted
- Ideal candidates are flexible, positive, compassionate, and strong team players
