Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Step-Down unit position requiring stepdown/progressive care and telemetry experience with titratable cardiac IV medications.

Details

• Work on a 40-bed Cardiac Step-Down unit located on the 5th floor of the Owen Heart Center
• Patient population includes CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post cardiac cath/stent/pacer/ICD/ablation cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with stretch staffing at 1:5
• Night shift unit staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 10 staff/bedside nurses, and 3 PCTs
• Uses Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners
• EMR - Cerner
• Shift schedule runs from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required to MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown or progressive care experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Experience with titratable/cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerine, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutrex, insulin drip, heparin, and bumex/Lasix required
• Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) preferred
• Relief charge experience preferred
• No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide bedside cardiac care to a stepdown/progressive care patient population
• Perform bedside cardioversion as needed
• Ideal candidates are flexible, positive, compassionate, and strong team players
• Scrub attire must be all white, all navy blue, or a white top with navy blue pants
• Unit guidelines and policies will be reviewed during orientation
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this travel position
• No local candidates will be considered
