Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology position requiring APHON Chemotherapy certification and PALS.
Details
- Work in the Children's Jimmy Everest Center Hem/Onc unit of a hospital
- Pediatric patient population with hematology and oncology diagnoses
- Day shift schedule, 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week (40 hours weekly)
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact eNLC) currently in hand
- Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and APHON Chemotherapy (all AHA-issued where applicable)
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Strong knowledge of nursing theory, practices, and techniques
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff
- Ability to respond to the cultural and language needs of patients and families
- Basic computer skills required
Additional Information
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of pediatric oncology patients
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and any changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Monitor physiological data and intervene as needed
- Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood product transfusions
- Communicate care plans with patients and families throughout hospitalization and at discharge
- Delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered
- Compliance documentation must be completed promptly, as start dates cannot be pushed
- Extensions limited to one renewal for a total of 26 weeks, with a required 6-month separation before reapplying
