Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology position requiring APHON Chemotherapy certification and PALS.

Details

  • Work in the Children's Jimmy Everest Center Hem/Onc unit of a hospital
  • Pediatric patient population with hematology and oncology diagnoses
  • Day shift schedule, 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week (40 hours weekly)

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact eNLC) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and APHON Chemotherapy (all AHA-issued where applicable)
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
  • Strong knowledge of nursing theory, practices, and techniques
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff
  • Ability to respond to the cultural and language needs of patients and families
  • Basic computer skills required

Additional Information

  • Assume responsibility for an assigned group of pediatric oncology patients
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and any changes in physician orders
  • Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
  • Monitor physiological data and intervene as needed
  • Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood product transfusions
  • Communicate care plans with patients and families throughout hospitalization and at discharge
  • Delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered
  • Compliance documentation must be completed promptly, as start dates cannot be pushed
  • Extensions limited to one renewal for a total of 26 weeks, with a required 6-month separation before reapplying
