Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a Level 3 Trauma Center, requiring 2+ years of recent MS/Tele experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:5, with potential for 1:6-7
• Cares for patients with diagnoses including altered mental status, CHF, stroke, ortho, surgical needs, DKA, and infections
• May care for patients with mental health diagnoses
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:30 AM-7:00 PM)
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6 weeks
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• No block scheduling accommodations

Requirements

• Active Oklahoma or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience in a hospital setting required
• Direct MS/Tele experience within the past year required; PCU experience not accepted
• Epic charting experience required within the past year
• Cardiac care self-rating of 3 or above required; basic dysrhythmia training preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with chest tubes, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code teams required
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE required
• No background or license issues allowed

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a diverse Med/Surg Tele population including cardiac, neuro, and surgical patients
• Scrub color varies by unit
• Facility enforces a zero-fault attendance policy where missed shifts count as unexcused regardless of reason
• Maximum of 5 RTO days allowed within the assignment; no additional time off after submittal or while on contract
• No RTO permitted on the day before, day of, or day after major holidays
• Required to complete pre-start training modules prior to assignment start
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Previous OSUMC travel or permanent employees are not eligible for this position
