Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU, requiring 2+ years of CVICU/post-op heart experience at a Level I Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) at a Magnet-designated, Level I Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital
• Care for critically ill or injured pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood
• Perform or assist with bedside procedures including central line placement, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation/extubation, CRRT initiation/discontinuation, and ECMO cannulation/decannulation
• Use specialized equipment including Hamilton G5 ventilators, DirectLink ICP monitors, Artic Sun targeted temperature management, and Baxter Prismaflex machines
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• Weekend rotation required
• No call requirements
• Float within the hospital to NICU and other pediatric units, as well as to nearby affiliate hospitals
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active RN license (OR license required), pending license applications accepted if submitted to the licensing board
• BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience with post-op cardiac surgery background required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Skilled in ventilator management, CRRT, ECMO, hemodynamic monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with continuous sedation, IV vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exemptions accepted

Additional Information

• Provide advanced critical care nursing to pediatric patients across trauma, surgical, respiratory, cardiac, hematology/oncology, and neurologic conditions
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacologists, therapists, social workers, and child life specialists
• Must be available to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day)
• No-print scrub requirement; OR scrubs provided when applicable
• Floating to affiliate hospitals nearby may be required; refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
• First-time travelers accepted if they have 3+ years of experience and prior PICU background
• All time off requests must be submitted upfront and cannot exceed two weeks
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• Former OHSU employees or travelers must have a 6+ month gap before returning to assignment
