Registered Nurse – Psychiatric (Float, Night Shift)

Location: Holyoke, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week (8-hour night shifts, 11:00 pm – 7:30 am)

• Includes every other weekend and every other holiday
• Must be willing to float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
• Charge nurse responsibilities required (no additional multiplier)

Job Summary

Provide direct and indirect nursing care to psychiatric inpatients within a therapeutic, trauma-informed recovery model. Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and document individualized treatment plans. Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and families.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience in an inpatient setting within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience in charge nurse roles

• Advanced knowledge of behavioral health and substance abuse treatment modalities
• Ability to apply nursing process within a trauma-informed recovery framework
• Develop therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries

• Proficient in electronic medical records and typing
• Crisis management, time management, delegation, coaching, and team-building skills
• Flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage stressful situations calmly and professionally

Additional Information

• No requests for return to office (RTO) will be approved for this assignment
• Must be willing to work every other holiday and weekend
• Charge nurse duties are included in the role without additional compensation
