Job Description
- Position: Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Facility: Acute care hospital setting in Wichita, KS
Required Credentials and Certifications
Certifications (Must be current and AHA approved)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
- CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or MOAB De-Escalation Course)
- CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion (completed at orientation, optional but recommended)
Licenses
- Valid nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- License/Certificate Verification (primary source verification within 30 days prior to start)
- Driver's License/State ID (must be current and match address requirements)
Testing and Checklists
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out (test results and training checklist with signed attestation)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
- Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, updated as per latest edition)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills checklist, updated annually)
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip (pre-hire modules for non-allied positions)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Fit Test: Required annually, preferred prior to start
- Positive PPD or Negative IGRA with chest X-ray and TB questionnaire (updated annually)
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within 30 days of start
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Professional Requirements
- Resume/Profile submission
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and other screenings (updated annually)
- EPLS (Exclusionary Provider List System) check within 90 days of start
- Education Verification within 90 days of start (diplomas not accepted, official transcripts if needed)
- Employment Verification for past 7 years (updated annually)
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation on agency letterhead
Additional Notes
- Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background required for badge photo
- All required documents and verifications must be uploaded and completed as per onboarding guidelines
- Some checklists and exams allow only two attempts to pass
- Certain trainings and attestations must be completed prior to or at orientation
This position requires strict adherence to credentialing, health, and compliance standards to ensure readiness for assignment in a critical care cardiovascular environment.
