Job Opportunity: RN Home Health (Behavioral Health Home Hospital Research Psychiatry Nurse)
Location: Newton, Massachusetts

Job Summary
Join an innovative pilot trial testing acute psychiatric care delivered in patients' homes. This role supports the Behavioral Health Home Hospital (BHH) program, which offers an alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization by providing hospital-level psychiatric care in the community.
As a BHH Research Psychiatry Nurse (RN), you will:
- Provide in-person nursing care twice daily to patients in their homes or current residence during hospitalization.
- Manage up to 4 patients simultaneously.
- Deliver hospital/inpatient-level psychological treatment in collaboration with a multidisciplinary psychiatric team.
- Conduct thorough nursing assessments, diagnoses, teaching, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Coordinate care with other clinical team members, including remote psychiatric providers and mental health specialists.
- Support patients who require a caregiver present during admission.
- Participate in remote inpatient therapy groups and 24/7 monitoring.
This position is ideal for nurses interested in temporary research roles that expand treatment options for patients with active acute psychiatric conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently plan and implement treatment for patients in the community.
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, documenting clinical care and patient education.
- Collaborate with the patient’s home-based clinical care team to establish and adjust schedules.
- Use multiple data sources to identify health problems and functional status.
- Apply a Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths.
- Provide high-quality nursing care in accordance with program standards and regulatory compliance.
Required Credentials & Compliance (Onboarding)
- Professional nursing license verification (no conditional licenses accepted).
- Submission of a recent professional photo (color, plain background, no filters or eyeglasses).
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check (required for all home care positions).
- N95 Fit Test within the past year, updated annually.
- Nurse Aide Registry check (per Massachusetts Department of Public Health).
- Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity proof.
- Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30).
- Tuberculosis (TB) test documentation within 3 months of start date.
- Health statement signed by a licensed provider within the past year.
- Criminal background check, including Massachusetts CORI and national sex offender registry.
- Education verification of highest degree achieved.
- References: 2 recent, including at least 1 supervisor or higher.
- Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet.
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if applicable).
- Exclusion checks against federal and state provider exclusion lists.
