Job Opportunity: RN - Rehab (Travel)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Position Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in Rehabilitation
• Facility Type: Acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital with 49 beds
• Shift: 12-hour shifts
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend required
• Call Requirements: None
• Patient Ratio: 1:7

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg or Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) nursing
• Must have at least 1 year of prior travel nursing experience
• Minimum 13 weeks of EPIC electronic health record experience
• Experience in acute inpatient rehab or acute rehab hospital settings
• Skilled nursing experience alone is not accepted unless accompanied by 2 years of IRF or Med Surg experience

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Patient types include those recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring inpatient rehabilitation
• Common diagnoses and treatments include:

  • Hypertension
  • Blood glucose monitoring and insulin protocols
  • Feeding tube care and swallowing precautions (thickened liquids)
  • Foley catheter care
  • Care of ports and PICC lines
  • Starting IVs
  • Care for CVA (stroke), Parkinson’s disease, post-craniotomy, spinal injury, brain injury, joint replacement
  • Supplemental oxygen delivery
  • Isolation precautions
  • Ulcer and wound care

Preferred Skills

• Trauma II experience preferred
