Registered Nurse - Inpatient Rehab
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in an inpatient rehabilitation setting with high acuity patients.
- Patient population includes adults requiring inpatient rehabilitation for conditions such as stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other rehabilitative needs.
- The unit functions similarly to a medical-surgical unit; nurses assist with patient care including helping CNAs and responding to call lights for patient safety.
- Work 12-hour shifts (6:30 AM–7:00 PM or 6:30 PM–7:00 AM) with every other weekend and holiday rotations.
- Call requirements apply.
- May be required to float to a nearby satellite inpatient rehab facility in the future.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a rehabilitation setting, with rehabilitation experience within the last year.
- Med-Surg nursing experience.
- Minimum 13 weeks of experience with EPIC electronic health records.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Unit Information
- 49-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
- Patient-to-nurse ratio approximately 7:1.
- Equipment includes mobility aids (ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, slide boards), vital sign machines, EKG, blood glucose monitors, and computers for charting.
- Uses EPIC for electronic health records.
Additional Notes
- Strict attendance and tardy policies apply.
- Mandatory 30-minute unpaid breaks per shift (two paid 15-minute breaks for 12-hour shifts).
- Staff must not stay past shift end time without supervisor approval.
- Local candidates are not accepted for this travel position.
Orientation
- Orientation sessions are scheduled monthly throughout the year.
