Description
Charge Nurse - Nursing Administration
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Dual role as Charge Nurse in an inpatient rehabilitation setting.
- Facility is a 49-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital serving adults with stroke, brain/spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring inpatient rehab.
- The unit functions similarly to a medical-surgical unit with high patient acuity.
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 7 patients.
- EHR system: EPIC.
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM.
- Every other weekend and holiday rotations required.
- Call requirements apply.
- Mandatory 30-minute unpaid break per shift (two paid 15-minute breaks included).
- Staff must adhere to attendance and tardy policies.
- No current float requirements, but may be required to float to a nearby satellite inpatient rehab facility within 20 minutes in the future.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of rehabilitation experience
- Rehabilitation experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Experience in charge roles
- Med Surg experience
- Experience with Epic
- Current BLS certification
Job Responsibilities
- Provide charge nurse leadership on the unit.
- Assist with direct patient care, including helping CNAs and responding to call lights to ensure patient safety.
- Manage high-acuity adult inpatient rehabilitation patients.
Unit Equipment and Environment
- Mobility equipment including ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy and Sara Plus, slide boards.
- Vital sign machines, EKG machines, blood glucose monitors, and computers for charting.
Additional Notes
- Orientation sessions available monthly throughout the year.
- Local candidates are not accepted for this travel assignment.
