Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)
Location: Burlingame, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Cross-trained Case Manager RN to float and work as needed across all units.
- Acute Care experience required.
- Direct hospital-based discharge planning experience to the community (not utilization management focused).
- Strong inpatient and Emergency Department case management experience.
- Knowledge of California insurance requirements and county regulations related to complex discharges.
- Ability to function independently in an acute care hospital setting.
Shift Details
- Variable start times between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
- Every other weekend required.
- Floating to various units as needed.
- Typical shifts: Day (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) or Evening (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM).
- 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Case Management experience of at least 5 years, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience in an Acute Care setting.
- Experience in an Inpatient setting.
- Direct hospital-based discharge planning experience to the community.
- Working knowledge of California insurance requirements and county regulations, particularly related to complex discharges.
- Acute Hospital Case Management experience.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including Social Security trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law).
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
Certifications and Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but verify by position.
- Other certifications may be position-dependent; verify with recruiter or manager.
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- EKG competency testing may be required for some units.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required).
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start; annual renewal required.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of immunity or vaccination with boosters as needed.
- Hepatitis B: Series or signed declination; must complete series if started.
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or vaccination with boosters as needed.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination.
- Drug testing and immunization declinations require appropriate documentation; religious and medical exemptions considered with required facility forms.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
- Job description acknowledgment.
- Standards of Business Conduct.
- Confidentiality Agreement.
- Vendor Training and Code of Conduct (updated for 2024 and 2025).
- Overpayment Refund Policy.
- TB Screening Questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider.
- Epic Questionnaire (for RNs starting 11/3/2025 and onward).
- Pending background check attestation not accepted; conditional clearances are facility-dependent.
