Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS
• BLS
• NRP
• 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Experience in an acute care setting

Key Responsibilities

• Reassess patient needs and update the plan of care
• Administer medications and evaluate treatment effectiveness
• Perform treatments and procedures using appropriate nursing practice, sterile technique, standard precautions, and patient privacy
• Document care, patient education, and progress toward goals
• Educate patients and families using approved materials when appropriate
• Interpret diagnostic data and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team
• Use SBAR for handoffs
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning
• Manage labor and immediate newborn care
• Assess fetal status, review fetal monitor strips, and apply fetal monitoring equipment
• Assist with placement of UIPC and fetal scalp electrode
• Recognize and respond to fetal distress and magnesium sulfate complications
• Follow infection control, blood transfusion, safety, disaster, and chain-of-command policies
