Pediatrics Travel Nurse Opportunity - Bakersfield, California
Job Details
- Specialty: Pediatrics
- Location: Bakersfield, California
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: 2 major holidays
- Unit Orientation: 4 shifts total (2 in Pediatrics, 1 in PICU, 1 in Burn Unit)
- Patient Age Range: Up to 13 years old, including older developmentally challenged patients
- Patient Types: Respiratory distress, appendectomy, dehydration, DKA, seizures, general surgeries
- Floating: To PICU for low acuity and Burn ICU for appropriate pediatric care
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of Pediatric nursing experience
- Certifications: Active BLS, PALS, and California nursing license
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (No first-time travelers)
- Skills: Must be able to start IVs and demonstrate strong clinical skills
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Pediatrics with 24-hour pediatric hospitalists in-house
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 4:1 (day and night)
- Charge RN: Yes (does not take patients)
- Nurse Aides: Available based on census
- EMR System: Cerner
- Monitoring: Telemetry available, no dedicated tech
- Ventilators: None on unit
- Respiratory Therapist: Available 24/7
- Pharmacy: Available 24/7
- Call Status: May be placed on standby when census drops
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Breaks: One 30-minute clocked break and three 15-minute breaks per shift

- Use of Medfusion pumps
- Nights, every other weekend, first to float
